True North Tattoo is a tattoo shop at 158 E Walnut St, Lancaster, PA 17602. This page explains what we collect through this website, why, and what you can do about it. If anything here isn’t clear, call the shop on (717) 224-4329 or email hello@lancastertattoo.com and we’ll answer plainly.
What you send us
If you fill in the consult form on our Visit page, we receive whatever you put in it: your name, your email address, your phone number if you give one, which artist you’d like, your description of the tattoo you want, the placement and rough size, whether it’s a cover-up, and any reference images you upload.
Some of that is personal. Cover-up requests in particular often include a photograph of an existing tattoo on your body. We treat those the same way we’d treat anything you showed us across the counter: it goes to the shop and the artist, and nowhere else.
Those submissions are stored on this website and emailed to the shop. We keep them while we’re talking to you and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back. Ask us to delete yours and we will.
Booking a consult
When you click through to book a consult, you leave this website and land on TidyCal, the scheduling service we use. Anything you enter there — your name, email and the time you pick — is handled by TidyCal under their own privacy policy, not this one.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site — which pages get read, which artist gets clicked, whether people are on a phone or a laptop, and roughly which part of the country they’re in. It helps us work out what’s useful and what isn’t.
This is counting, not identifying. Google Analytics does not store your IP address, and we have no way to tell who any individual visitor is. We have not turned on Google’s cross-device or advertising features, and we don’t sell or share this data with anyone.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to recognise a repeat visit. If you’d rather it didn’t, you can block cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works fine either way. You can also read Google’s privacy policy.
Other things that happen automatically
Our web host keeps standard server logs — the pages requested, timestamps, and technical details about the browser making the request. That’s ordinary operation of a website and is used for security and troubleshooting.
The map on our Visit page is embedded from Google Maps, and our fonts are served by Google Fonts. Loading those means your browser contacts Google.
Who else sees your information
The people who tattoo here, and the services that make the site run: our web host, our email provider, TidyCal for scheduling, and Google Analytics. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t hand it to anyone for advertising.
Children
This site isn’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Pennsylvania law also governs who we can tattoo — anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian present with ID.
Changes
If we change how any of this works, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top.
